ACCESS STATEMENT

Introduction

We aim to cater for and welcome all visitors to our farmhouse based bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will always try to help.

Pre-Arrival

  • We are situated directly off the B3151, Street to Somerton road.
  • Limited bus service in village of Compton Dundon, just down the road or up the hill at the crossroads at Marshalls Elm.
  • Nearest railway station is Castle Cary, 20 minutes away by car.
  • Taxis can be hired.
  • We have a basic website.
  • You can contact us via phone or email.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • The farmhouse stands alone overlooking open countryside, adjacent to the B3151.
  • On arrival, there is a tarmac level drive, where cars can drive right to the front door. No marked parking bays.
  • There is a 18cm concrete step up to the front door with a 13cm lip into the front hall.
  • We can help all guests with luggage if needed.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

  • The front door has one 18cm step up to it and is 80 cm wide.
  • On entry into our home there is a large open hallway.
  • There is seating provided in the hall.
  • The floor is wooden floorboards with central rug.

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors, etc.

  • From the hall there are 13 stairs, each step being 19cms.
  • The landing, leading to the 2 bedrooms, is approx. 90cm going down to 70cm at its narrowest.
  • The lounge is directly on your right as you come in the frontdoor and is carpeted. Door width is 75cms.
  • Breakfast is served in the dining room, which is off the hall at the bottom of the stairs. Door width is 75cms.
  • There is just the one large table, at a height of 74cms, with 2 central legs.
  • Chairs can be moved to accommodate.

Outdoor Facilities

  • There is space in sheds outside for bikes, etc.
  • Summer House and large level garden for your use.
  • Patio area accessed by paved walkway around house and 3 large stone steps up onto patio.
  • Seating available.

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

  • Bedroom 1 has door width of 74cm. Ensuite door width is 67cms.
  • Double bed with height of 63cm, the narrowest space between bed and wall is 53cm.
  • Ensuite shower room (see below for details)
  • 2 chairs and dressing table.
  • Built in wardrobe with light.
  • Bedroom 2 has door of 74cms width. Ensuite door of 67cms width.
  • King size bed with height of 60cms.
  • There is space of at least 96cm either side of bed.
  • One chair and wardrobe, bedside cabinets.
  • Fitted short pile carpet on both bedroom floors.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]

  • Bedroom 1 has ensuite shower room. Door width is 67cm.
  • Basin has a height of 80cm.
  • Toilet is 44cms high, close to washbasin and shower.
  • The shower cubicle has an edge of 13cms high with a doorwidth of 58cms. The shower tray is 70cm x 74cm.
  • Vinyl flooring.
  • Bedroom 2 has ensuite bath/shower room. Door width is 67cms.
  • The large washbasin has a height of 88cms.
  • Toilet is 43cms high.
  • Bath is 55cms high and has an overhead power shower.
  • Wooden floorboards.

Additional Information

  • There is a Hand Bell on the windowsill at the top of the stairs, in case of emergency.
  • Exit from the front door.
  • No smoking throughout the entire house.
  • No dogs other than service dogs.
  • A mini fridge is available to store medications and special dietary foods.
  • We will try to be helpful with any request.

Future Plans

  • Despite our bedrooms being on the first floor, we have tried to use taps in the bathrooms that may be easier to turn than some others. Bedside lamps are touch lamps.
  • We will continue to maintain the rooms to a high standard and look for ways to improve accessability for all.
